Bureau of Land Management Upper Snake East Travel Management Plan
Everything You Need to Know
Updated April 20
BLM Meeting with Parks and Rec Highlights on 4/19/2023
Regarding the Upper Snake East Travel Management Plan
Scope: This BLM travel management plan is only regarding Summer usage, not Winter.
1. Map Highlights.
The yellow areas are controlled by BLM (that’s the only area we’re talking about). Purple lines
indicate where a trail would be closed, Green lines are open, Orange lines are seasonal.
2. Do Research.
Take time to view the maps and toggle between the 4 different alternatives in the areas you
ride. Get right down to the specifics. It appears some of the closures are not even trails we have
ever seen. Realistically, Alternative A which keeps all trails the same will not happen. Alternative
B is extremely restrictive and will close the most trails. Alternative C is somewhat restrictive.
3. What To Do.
To have the greatest impact, focus only on the trails you are familiar with and give BLM specific
feedback on those trails. Don’t get political, give genuine and helpful feedback. Share this with
all your friends.
Conclusion: we are frustrated over this process and the possibility of trail closures. The only way to keep
our trails open is to follow this comment process. We have discussed petitions and contacting your
congressman, but for this situation the only method BLM is accepting is to send BLM an email.
